The Yard Ramp Shop Dock Equipment | Yard Ramp Safety Features
The Yard Ramp Shop designs dock equipment with safety in mind. Standard features increase safety and user-friendliness.
8-foot Level Off
A built-in 8-foot level section provides stable access for forklifts and other equipment at the top of the ramp, helping reduce bounce and improve control.
15-Inch Lip
A 15-inch lip design rests firmly on the truck carrier body, dock floor, or platform. The lip plate ensures a secure connection. Additionally, mobile ramps come with 8-foot long safety chains. Both features bridge the gap and assure that the ramp won’t pull away.
High-Strength Steel Deck Grating
Heavy-duty steel grating delivers reliable traction in all weather conditions. Open bar spacing allows rain, snow, and debris to fall through, keeping the ramp surface clear.
7-Inch Curbs
All ramps include 7-inch safety curbs to help prevent accidental runoff and keep equipment securely on the ramp surface.
Whether you rent or own, The Yard Ramp Shop yard ramps will make your loading dock more efficient.
Yard Ramp Safety Tips
In addition to structural benefits, The Yard Ramp Shop has composed a list of helpful safety tips!
Check Capacity Limits
Always confirm that ramp load limits are not exceeded. Even with durable construction, equipment should always be used within its rated capacity.
Use Wheel Chocks
Wheel chocks help prevent unwanted movement during loading and unloading and provide additional protection against shifting.
Position on a Solid, Level Surface
Place ramps on stable, level ground whenever possible. Concrete or pavement offers the best support.
Secure the Ramp Connection
Ensure the ramp lip is fully seated on the dock or truck and attach safety chains when applicable.
Maintain Safe Travel Speeds
Do not exceed 5 mph when using the towbar. The towbar is intended for short repositioning, not long-distance towing.
Inspect Ramps Regularly
Check for wear, rust, or damage before use. For hydraulic ramps, monitor hydraulic fluid levels and system performance. Also inspect dock conditions for cracks or structural concerns.
